Banff Biking Tour

Canadian Rockies Biking

A Weekend in Banff and Lake Louise National Parks

If you'd like to treat yourself to a truly memorable weekend, come bike with us in the stunning Canadian Rockies! Pedal along the glacially fed Bow River, spin past lush meadows and evergreen forests, and ride beneath mighty snowcapped mountains. Hike in a limestone slot canyon and taste the spray of its spectacular cascades, and explore jewel-colored Lake Louise, a World Heritage site. Throughout the weekend, your Backroads leaders provide insight on all that's fascinating and unique about this region, from the exploits of early explorers to the names of wildflowers to the difference between black bears and grizzlies. And above all, revel in the sense of adventure that comes with actively exploring the Canadian wilderness - a thrill that's certain to linger long after you've returned home.

Days 1-3 Lake Louise

Meet in Banff  Spin along the Bow Valley Parkway amid virgin forests and alongside the winding Bow River with its striking blue-green color  This is a great stretch for spotting wildlife - keep your eyes peeled for elk, mule deer and ospreys  Fuel up with tasty picnic goodies, then set out on foot through narrow Johnston Canyon to view its awe-inspiring waterfalls  Pedal the rolling route to stunning Lake Louise, emerald icon of the Canadian Rockies, framed by a thick green forest and overlooked by a battlement of glaciated peaks  Explore Lake Louise Village, perhaps visiting the bakery, gift shops, outdoor stores and excellent interpretive center  Or indulge at the Post Hotel's Temple Mountain Spa  Dine at the hotel's acclaimed restaurant, which showcases the cuisine of chef Hans Sauter  For stunning views of the Wenkchemna Peaks, which take their name from the Stoney Indian word meaning "ten," pedal to pristine Moraine Lake  Enjoy a classic Rockies hike through subalpine forest to Lake Agnes, set in a hanging valley surrounded by beehive-shaped mountains  Choose to continue up to the rustic Lake Agnes Teahouse for a snack and cold drink before descending back to Lake Louise  Perhaps a canoe ride on the lake is in order?  The final day, bike to beautiful turquoise Bow Lake, where we gather for a farewell lunch.

Guest Trip Reviews

This is a once-in-a-lifetime alpine adventure. By day, spin past stunning glacial lakes, soaring mountain peaks, and pristine forests along historic routes and passes used by the early explorers. By night, relax at a world class spa and indulge in the cuisine and wine of The Post Hotel, a member of the prestigious Relais and Chateaux. Exploring and discovering the mountain roads and trails of the Canadian Rockies is truly an amazing experience - one that has kept me here for almost a decade!
