After an active day, your family deserves a place to wind down and regroup. We spend as much time finding the perfect retreats as we do researching our routes so that you’ll always feel at home. How about spending some rocking chair time on a shady veranda or stretching out on a lush green lawn with the kids to decipher shapes in the clouds?

From Normandy to New Zealand, the Premiere Inns we select for our Family Trips are distinctive properties with all the comforts to please the most discriminating of travelers—and they also enthusiastically welcome families. Amenities such as swimming pools and game rooms appeal to the kids, while parents enjoy the luxurious touches you’d expect from a member of Relais & Châteaux or Small Luxury Hotels of the World. To top it off we’ve designed more trips with less movement so you can spend less time packing and more time relaxing.

The thoughtfully chosen lodgings on our Casual Inn Trips are ideal places to kick back and enjoy warm hospitality after a day of active exploring with your family. From historic beachfront cottages on a Hawaiian sugar plantation to a restored 16th century villa in Tuscany to the Grand Canyon Lodge, with its breathtaking views of the North Rim—each is in tune with its surroundings, a perfect venue for exploring local culture and visiting spectacular natural sights. If luxury isn’t your priority, the comfortable informality of our Casual Inn Trips will be a good fit for your family.

No check-in, no elevators and the instant camaraderie of travelers who understand that camping isn’t about economy—it’s about the ultimate outdoor experience. Camping Backroads style means fun and relaxation, with all camp chores, from setting up your tents to performing culinary magic, handled by four Trip Leaders plus a Camp Assistant. Your kids will love living outdoors, sleeping under the stars, and spending as much or as little time at the “dinner table” as they like. After sharing time around the campfire, you’ll be warm and cozy with our plush sleeping bags and extra-thick Therma-a-Rest mattresses. And if you want three to a “room,” our dome tents are plenty big enough. Adjacent “rooms?” But of course!

MENUS FOR ALL TASTES We make sure that our meals cater to kids’ special tastes without sacrificing yours. We find the most family-friendly restaurants, and offer tasty, freshly made and healthful preparations on our picnics and Camping Trips. For parents’ nights out, you’ll be treated to settings and menus for more sophisticated tastes while your leaders entertain the kids. All meals are included on most days with the occasional opportunity for your family to search for the perfect pizza on your own.
