Can you shoot like a pro? Our professional photographers adhere to the following technical specifications. If you don't have the necessary equipment to meet the guidelines below, that's okay. Simply submit JPEG files shot in or saved as the highest quality your camera will allow.

Ideal Tech Specs

• JPEG files
• Shot in or saved as the highest quality / least amount of compression
• Format option set to "baseline optimized"
• Adobe 98 color space (not SRGB color space)
• 8-bit file
• From a minimum of a 6 mega-pixel camera

Photo Contest Terms and Conditions

Limit 25 photos per guest per trip. Should Backroads choose to use an image in a print publication, DVD, video, e-mail or on our Web site (excluding the voting page and our Facebook page), $250 in Backroads trip credit will be awarded to you (the "Photographer"). Trip credit is applicable to any future Backroads trip and has no expiration date. The Photographer will be notified of use by letter by Backroads after the publication has been printed or the image posted online. Backroads retains the right to use any image submitted at anytime in the future. Once the Photographer is compensated for an image, Backroads retains the right to reuse it at will, for all time, for no additional payment.

Contest winners are chosen annually. Submissions for the 2010 contest are due by December 31, 2010. Winners will be notified by February 15, 2011. Submissions arriving after December 31, 2010 will automatically be entered in the 2011 contest. There are three Grand Prize winners: 1st place wins $3,000 in trip credit, 2nd place wins $2,000 in trip credit and 3rd place wins $1,000 in trip credit. Trip credit is automatically applied to the winner's account and is redeemable immediately. Trip credit is applicable to any Backroads trip and has no expiration date. Backroads retains the right to use any image submitted at any time in the future. Once the Photographer is compensated for a winning image, Backroads retains the right to reuse it at will, for all time, for no additional payment. Your initials:

Photographic submissions must be in JPEG (.jpg or.jpeg) format. Please provide only the original, unmodified digital camera image. Photographic submissions will not be returned. Backroads will consider no photographs that it identifies as obscene, provocative or otherwise containing objectionable content, nor will we consider submissions from employees of Backroads or their families.

By submitting a photograph for consideration, you warrant and represent that the photograph you submit (the "Photograph") is your own original work, that you alone own copyright to the Photograph, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the Photograph. You grant to Backroads and its licensees a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to display, distribute and reproduce the Photograph, in whole or in part, in any medium now existing or subsequently developed for editorial purposes without further review or participation from you. You attest that the Photograph was taken on a Backroads trip. In the event recognizable people other than Backroads guests appear in the Photograph, you warrant that you have permission from the model or models, authorizing publication of the Photograph. If you are selected as a finalist, you also grant Backroads the right to use your name on the Backroads Web site, in e-mails and print publications.

Backroads retains full editorial control over the selection of, and the decision not to select, any particular photograph for publication. Your initials:
