One of the things I like best about working at Backroads is having the opportunity to share my passion for places I love. That's why I'm particularly enthused about our upcoming trips in some of my all-time favorite regions of Spain.
There's stellar biking and hiking to be enjoyed in Catalonia's Pyrenees & Costa Brava. In the Pyrenees, dense woodland, flower-filled meadows and rugged peaks serve up some of the most awe-inspiring scenery in Spain, while the Costa Brava entices travelers with tucked-away coves and idyllic white-sand beaches. In fact, we all have such great affection for Catalonia, that we gathered 150 Backroads staff members here, from every corner of the globe, for one of our annual five-day staff rides.
And then there's Mallorca. This stunning Mediterranean island is a cycling destination like no other—and a favorite among European riders thanks to the nearly deserted back roads offering curlicue descents and vigorous climbs seemingly custom-made to test your legs and lungs. And it's the setting for one of my most unforgettable rides ever: the breathtaking route to Cap de Formentor, a bluff at the island's northernmost tip offering incredible views. Rambles in Barcelona

Architectural treasures at every turn—like Antoni Gaudí's spectacular Sagrada Familia church and Casa Milà. Atmospheric neighborhoods with wall-to-wall souvenir shops, boutiques, galleries and museums. Street musicians, outdoor markets, a vibrant beachfront and an exceedingly pleasant Mediterranean climate that invites outdoor living. Barcelona is an urban walker's dream come true.
