The World's Greatest Bike Race Issue, December 2008
Bonjour Traveler!
We're so excited about the 96th edition of the world's greatest bike race that we're now offering two unique itineraries! In true Backroads style, both itineraries feature hotels and routes that bring you up close and into the action, with access to stellar riding and viewing.
About our VIP Access: Premiere Inns itinerary:
Bicycling magazine's Dream Rides presented by Specialized Riders Club will reward a select number of riders with an ultra-premium tour of awe-inspiring scenery, punctuated by coveted opportunities to dive into the excitement of the race, and meet the experts and insiders. You, too, will pedal some of the celebrated routes, outfitted with a premium Specialized Tarmac or Roubaix demo bike, a Specialized S-Works helmet to keep, a custom-edition Bicycling magazine kit from Castelli and much more. Unlike the racers, you'll be able to appreciate the spectacular vistas of towering mountain peaks, lush vineyards and olive orchards—not to mention exquisite cuisine and deluxe hotels—in two French regions perfect for cycling.
July 21-26, 2009 • 6 days, 5 nights • $7,798
About our Alps & Provence: Casual Inns itinerary:
Ride in the same rarefied environment as the world's top cyclists, and witness history in the making. Tackle some of the event's most thrilling miles ahead of the pros, including the challenging climbs to Col de la Colombière and up Mont Ventoux, and we'll find the perfect spot to watch your heroes fly by.
July 21-26, 2009 • 6 days, 5 nights • $4,798
While we can't promise that there won't be crowds and chaos—nor can we guarantee that we won't sometimes be waylaid by road closures and fickle gendarmes—we can promise that we will bring you the race in all its passion, glory and excitement. We hope you'll join us!
Please call 800-GO-ACTIVE (462-2848) to reserve your space on one of these exclusive departures.
