Kia Ora from New Zealand! I spent the best 9 days "tramping" (Kiwi term for hiking) around most of the South Island of New Zealand with Backroads. I saw mountains, rain forests, glaciers, touched the Pacific and Tasman, and enjoyed long tramps around the best hiking trails in the world.
The journey started in Christchurch (the largest city in the South Island) and we ended our trip in Queenstown. In between tramps, I got to explore New Zealand on a kayak, a jet boat on the Haast river, on a small Cessna flying across the Southern Alps, and a boat trip on Milford Sound.
I feel very fortunate to have been able to go on this trip and I wish everyone would have a chance to see the South Island of New Zealand on foot rather than by bus. I often spent a lot of time looking at the sites hoping I could permanently save in my memory what I saw and felt.
Thanks to Tim Nenniger and Erica Hausfeld for being the best leaders ever! This was a once in a life-time trip. |
