We really did it. For our first Backroads bicycling adventure, we picked what may be the most demanding program assembled by Backroads.
I'm wondering whether any other organized ride could be more scenic, more rewarding, or more challenging.
You don't need to be a stud (or a stud-ette) to enjoy this trip. The support van will boost you when you need it. But don't be surprised if you go further than you thought you could.
The 112-mile day comes near the end. You expect (hope) to hear the guides say, in the earlier days, "If you can handle today, you can handle the long day." No such luck. The big day is in a class by itself. BUT IT'S DO-ABLE.
And then there's the bungy-jump a few days later.
This is quite a trip! I'd do it again in a heartbeat. But I think I'll experience other unique Backroads experiences first. |
